After spending a few days at the King Edward VII Hospital in London, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is finally discharged after suffering from an extreme case of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum.

The modern royals certainly have a flair for defying tradition. Catherine and William are the first royal couple not to produce an heir on their first year of marriage. The Queen had Prince Charles 6 days before her first wedding anniversary, and the late Princess Diana had William 11 months into her marriage.

People also expect William to be present during the birth of their child, unlike his father (who played polo) and his grandfather (who played squash). Whether male or female, Kate and William’s child will be third in line to the British throne.
